This appeared on the DIC when I started the car,Was only on for a couple of seconds then everything was normal.Car had been parked for 6 hours and temp was 47 degrees. The battery voltage fluctuated between 14.3-14.2 then settled at 14.1.Anyone explain this?
TIA
I had a similar set of symptoms. I started to notice that each time I started the car the battery voltage would go up to around that range. I took it in to have the Chevy dealer check the battery. After only 2 years the battery was bad. Replaced it with a red top and have seen a steady charge and no error codes since.
I received the same message when starting my 1999 C5 coupe (purchased new). The dealer mechanic was stumped and there were no codes set.
After several visits, the mechanic called Chevrolet Technical Assistance. He was told to check ground locations on and near the starter. He found several locations where the nut was loose on the ground stud. He cleaned the locations and tightened the nuts. That eliminated the DIC messages.
The mechanic said Technical Assistance immediately knew what the problem & solution was when he called. He speculated that it must have been a common problem because they were familiar with the problem. The car had never been wrecked or worked on in those locations. The mechanic further speculated that it must have been a poor assembly problem from the factory.
You did not post the year of your car but your profile shows you own a newer C5. You may want to remove your car's battery and tray, and check the ground locations. Good luck.
