HELP!!! Some buttons not illuminating (door panel)?
Hi,
On my driver's side door panel, what would be the most probable cause for only the top 1/4 of the buttons having illumination? The lower 3/4 of them do not illuminate. I just got the Vette back after having full paint work done. I'm not sure if they pulled the door panels off or not, but I wonder if they could have disconnected something by accident that would cause some of them to illuminate and the rest not illuminate.
Also, what tool and size do I need to use to remove the two screws in the middle of the panel?
It doesn't say how to take the actual door panel off. I know the body shop wouldn't have removed just the door switch piece, so I really want to get the entire panel off so that I can see around the switches while they're still installed if possible. Does anyone know what size tool I should use to get the two screws out from behind the door pull? (Those have to be out to take the entire panel off, right?)

Using a small flat bladed screwdriver (wrapped in a clean cloth), insert the tip just under the rear-most end of the switch panel and gently pry it up. Turn the switch panel over a little and you will see that there is a multi-pin wire harness that plugs into the back side. It may be only partially plugged in. When re-installing it, be sure to put the front edge in first, (it has a small lip that goes underneath the panel itself) and then just press the rear side back down into postion. HTH

You can unscrew the light with a flathead screwdriver if you need to replace the bulb. You can go with any color or clear leds or go back to a bulb - radioshack has both.
