I'm wondering the same thing. I recently bought a set of C5 chrome thinspokes and while they may be DOT approved, I thought the finish quality was marginal at best. Metal shavings that were rough chromed over on the inner rim barrels, machine marks on the spokes, pits on the spokes, damaged rim lips from the forging, etc... These wheels are all made in China by the manufacturers who take advantage of cheap labor. I don't understand why the manufacturer can't charge a little more to produce a better finish on these wheels. In my mind I would rather pay $850-900 for wheels with better quality than buy wheels for $700-750 with numerous imperfection.
