Default Forged motor?

What all is involved in forging a motor? Which parts need to be forged? I am about to install an A & A Procharger kit and I'm just looking down the road to see what is involved if I want to exceed 600 hp.

A forged Lunati rotating assembly (pistons, rods & crank) will cost nearly 4K.
A forged Eagle rotating assembly will cost nearly 2K.

The above prices are just for parts and does not include labor.

Pistons, rods, and rod bolts are the main components that need to be replaced. Guys have run in the 8's with the stock crank.

Mark, you are quite right. I was surprised, but there is an LS1 on another forum using a stock crank and running over 1100rwhp.

Eagle is a good brand, there were some problems with clearance with the early Eagle forged cranks. However I believe these problems have been solved. But as mentioned above the stock LS1 crank is a good piece and you can go with forged rods, pistons & the stock crank.

OK guys, I gotta play the devils advocate here. Whats wrong with the rods?
Is it just because their PM? What is the actual strength difference? What is the compressive yield compared to steel, forging only buy's you 10% over cast at best in steel.
Has anyone ever failed a rod without breaking a bolt or seizing a piston?
