Default Tail Light Question(s)

ok im starting my tail light project and have a few questions. how can you seperate the actual lens from the housing of the light? is it even possible?? and how does the brake/turn light work? like how do they have it wired so that the brakes work unti your turn the turn signal on if that makes any sense...

The lens is either solvent or ultrasonic welded to the reflector so the seal is waterproof, prying the two apart won't work. I used a dremel tool to cut away most of the reflector then used 2" wide aluminum tape as a support to create a new fiberglass housing. The new housing allows mounting a flat circuit board that holds the leds about 2" away from the lense for reduced hot spots. The lens can now be almost totally illuminated except where the two mounting screws are and a 1/4" border. The schematics are in the shop manual and if you redraw these the opereation will be clearer although one of the switches has a mistake the way one of it's internal connections are drawn. The turn switch and brake switch feed the hazard switch where the single flasher is. The flasher is load dependant so a reduced current load such as leds will increase the already rapid flash rate. You also have to decide on how the parking lamp function will work; either all the leds stay on a little or one strip stays on bright as in a DeVille.
