Default Wheel Size

Ok so i wanna get new rims right!....

but i'm not sure what size i can go up to.

right now my C5 Stocks are
Front - 17" x 8.5"
Rear - 18" x 9.5"

So can i go up to
Front - 17" x 9.5"
Rear - 18" x 10.5"

without having to get spacers or anything?

What have you guys seen to be the optimal sizes.....

Thanks ahead of time

The sizes you listed you "can go up to" are merely the stock Z06 sizes. They will be no problem.

Optimal size means many things to many people...what are you looking for in aftermarket wheels? Looks, handling/cornering, dragstrip/traction?

You can move to the Z06 size that you have mentioned in your post with no problems. Many companies sell the correct size and backspacing in various styles. Do a search on wheels and you will find LOTS of choices and good advice.

I have 18 x 9.5 front and 18 x 10.5 in the rear. I like the front size, I run 285/30/18s but I wish I had went with a little wider wheel in the rear so I could run 335/30/18s I am currently running 315/30/18s. I wanted to stick with C5 thin spokes because I love the look and also like the stock look of the car but it limited me in rear wheel size. But if you are going with Z06 style rims you have a better choice of wheel sizes. I think you can get them in 18 x12 from Bobs house of wheels that is where I bought mine and I liked the quality and service. The problem with the 12s and the 335s is I have read posts that say they rub and others that say they fit fine. I think with spacers though that problem could be avoided. From the posts I read when I did my research is any bigger than the 12" 335 combo requires tubbing. On the front I think the 18" x 9.5 and the 285s are about as big as you could go and you may want to go with a 18 x 10.5 inch wheel for that size tire also, but mine seems to fit fine. It looks mighty close to rubbing on my car but it does not rub.

I think this is an ideal size for the C5. I wish I could have gotten this size in thin spokes. I personally would not be afraid to run 335s on an 11 inch rim. I hope someone comes out with an 18 x 11 with chrome thin spokes someday.

I suggest contacting CCW www.ccwheel.com. I have 18x10 fronts and 18x12 rears. They will make whatever size you want with the corsct backspacing. Nice setup. I run Mich Pilot 335's on the back for extra little bit of traction. Pics available.
