im nearing completion on my 02 rebuilder, in the process of looking for airbags im finding out from the dealership that all c-5's are not the same-- 97and 98 are the same and then 99--02, my question is can they be modified to work?? im looking for a set and a guy has some from an 04' that are priced right. thanks in advance for your advise---
If any of the wiring, or connectors or attachment points have to be altered to make the '04 airbags fit in your car that's a big no no. Airbag systems need to be setup entirely as the factory intended. In my state if any part of the supplemental restraint system is altered or inactive the car fails inspection.
Man to man though, say you just need to change a connector or something like that and you can do it easily go ahead if your comfortable, and you might get away with it, but someday when you whack something ..... you know, you might have wished you didn't. I say just find the right ones! Good luck man.
guys, first let me say im not into risking my life or anyone elses to save $$$$, i have no idea what the differences are between these three different applications and was wondering if anyone of you did!!
Ok then, I'm not sure exactly what the changes to the bags were. But, baisically, if the 04 bags have a different part number than your model year then you can't use them.
