Any downside to installing stainless steel brake lines on a daily driver, non-track '04 C5? Anything to especially look for when ordering?
I don't know if it is still true but I always felt the Goodridge lines tended to have less problems than other brands out there. I put mine on 4 years ago and haven't had any problems.
Yup, it used to be a problem.... Depending on the maker and design of line, the unit would cause a grounding issue with your TCS/ ABS sensors... I now have a New design set of Russell lines from here: www.discbrakesRus.com and they have worked troublefree for a year now. Regardless where you get them, I also recommend getting Speed bleeders for your calipers... Swapping fluids should be mandatory every 18-24 months, and sooner if you run fluids that are more prone to collecting moisture and contaminates. Speed bleeders shorten the process to a one person/ 15 minute chore. I flush mine before each track day with Motul BRF600...
I have had Goodridge SS lines on my car for three years without a problem. Currently have the Goodridge SS lines with AN connections which are very nice.
However, there are SS lines which cause static electricity problems that mess with ABS. I believe there is a TSB out that tells dealers not to work on brake systems with SS lines on them. First corrective action is to require the stock rubber lines to go back on. So if you do this, I'd keep your stock lines for future use.
