What are the hardest jobs to perform when maintaining a C5? My guess is that removing and installing the clutch, torque tube or transmission are among the hardest tasks, but I don't know.
yeah you're about right on that one. Other than that on the '03 and newer cars with the fuel pumps mounted from the top of the tank, you have to remove all of the drive train like doing a clutch to drop the tank to replace the pump and sending units. Other than that I'm really pleased with the layout of the car.
Buy the three volume set of manuals (Got mine used on Ebay!) and get a 15mm & 18mm wrench and sockets because pretty much most of the suspension bolt/ nut hardware is in those sizes... Otherwise working on the car is pretty easy. I suspect that doing the clutch job from jack stands would be a pain in the butt... But otherwise everything else is simple... i've swapped my radiator, fixed the wiper motor, and installed one oil cooler for someone else, and helped another member with his faulty horn... Minor little nittpicks like the column lock (buy the bypass if you have a T56) and other issues with electricals can drive you crazy, but overall the joy of ownership is pretty high...
I'll report back on the LGM header swap and LS6 intake swap shortly...
