Threw a code that I don't seem to have a reference for. It's 58 SDM- B1001H. It's a history code, but I'd like to know the origin. Anyone seen this one?
It basically means that the ID and/or VIN of the SDM (sensing and diagnostic module) that controls your air bag (SIR) system does not match the ID and/or VIN of the SDM stored in the BCM.
When an SDM is replaced, the VIN must be programmed into the new SDM.
Since it is a history code, I would say ignore it for now, since there can always be and electronic fart (that is a technical term for a miscommunication) in any electrical line such as the serial data line on the car.
NOW, if the air bag light is on, and/or you do not get the seven flashes of the AIR BAG indicator when starting the vehicle, there is something wrong with the SDM and take it to a dealer immediately, or better yet, have it towed. If the AIR BAG light is on, your air bags will not deploy in an accident.
