No sir! It's much easier if you take the sway bar mounts that are in the center of the bar loose and let the bar hang down. Then you just loosen the exhaust and work the exhaust around until it comes out. I found this out after I cut mine.........ooooops (good thing that I know how to weld )!
You do need the car on a lift or raised very high on jacks to get the pipes out. You also have to remove a heat shield on the passenger side with the A4.
Just look out for the rear support bracket that holds the mufflers. I helped change some after market exhaust on some C5's, including my own. The 1st was a piece a cake. But when I did mine... the rear support bracket was not welded to the frame and it slipped up into the frame! I had an extreme difficult time removing the rear bumper and fishing for the bracket inside the frame! It delayed this simple install by 2 hours. So, my advise is to loosen the two bolts only and see if the bracket is welded solid to the frame. If not, loosen one bolt at a time; BUT re-attach the nut back on one bolt before removing the second nut. OR you will find the support bracket swimming inside the frame work.
PS: Lift your car about 4 feet high (measuring from your bumper) so you can wiggle out the one piece stock exhaust.
Good Luck!

you need to get the car more than 3 feet off the ground to get the pipes out uncut
