Been contemplating a H/C kit, but I've been gnawing at the possibility of installing a C5R 427.
The one factor that would kill the idea is the weight diff.
I love the Vette cuz of its perfect balance, front and rear.
I drove buddies Maggied Z, and found the extra weight on the front just unbearable. Yes, it was fast, but the imbalance front and rear for me was unacceptable. I would as soon drive a well balanced 400 HP car than a 500+ Hp car that has an extra ~100 lbs in the front.
The only factor that is holding me back from the C5R is the potential extra weight. If it's around 50 lbs., I could easily offset it by relocating the battery in the rear of the car. If it's too much more, then I may stick with a H/C with a forged bottom.

C5R weight...
The crankshaft is a few pounds heavier and the rods/pistons maybe a few pounds total, otherwise it's essentially the same. The block is more heavily gussetted, but the holes (bores) are bigger, I think the whole thing is a wash.
