I had a yank 3000 torque converter installed about two months ago(keep 3:15 gears)and now the car shift very different.
It shifts fine a WOT or if you are giving it very little gas(say 1/4 throttle or less) but any where in between and it's like it shift into nuetral, hesitates for about half second and then shifts into gear rather harshly.
It wasn't tuned when it was installed becuase I was told I probably wouldn't need it, so I'm guessing/hoping that is the problem, would that be your guess?
Exactly what do they tune for a TC, is it just increasing line pressure?????
Your computer is detecting more slippage due to the 3000 stall converter and to compensate, it -increases- line pressure which results in harsh shifts.
You will need -programing- to tell your computer to allow more slippage with your 3000 converter.
LS1 edit or HP tuner are two programs than can do this. You must know what you are doing or have somebody do it for you.
There is an area in HP tuner that allows you to "tell" your computer you have a non-stock converter so it won't throw slippage codes. My tuner did this for me. I'm sure somebody more familiar with HP tuner can give you the exact window to go to.
davette, if you're talking about relaxing P1870 test limits, that's a different animal altogether than what FASTENUF is asking about. (And even on that point, I'm in the camp that says if you have to do that you or your software is broken.)
FASTENUF, my first suspicion would be fluid level. Have you done anything with your MAF/intake? Can't tell from your sig (but I dig the beach. )

I guess I'll get the fluid checked asap.
As for MAF/intake, I have the filter that comes with the K&N FIPK system(similar to the blackwing), but the MAF is stock(screen still in).
Next question would be whether this is a new phenomena or has it behaved this way since the install.
Another thing to look for would be whether or not you have any pending codes. Some DTCs have tests that take a while to complete. The PCM sometimes takes certain actions while this is happening before MIL illuinates and codes set. Do you have access to a good OBD-II scanner?
