Default wheel question

I bought a set of aftermarket wheels for my 2000 coupe. They are in stock sizes Rear 18x9.5 and Fronts 17x8.5. I've changed my mind in the past year and want to go with larger rims, something like 18 in front and 19 in the rear. My question is, can I take the existing rear wheel and put it up front then just buy the pair of 19 for the rear or is the off-set not gonna work.

The rear wheel will fit and work fine on the front.

Will I have to go with lower profile tires with the existing 18" rims if I were to put them up front?

I would highly suggest it, yes.

The traction control systems are dependant on wheel speeds, and if you alter the tire sizes, you affect those wheel speeds. Running the same size tire front and rear has been known to cause problems, and for this reason, I would recommend you use a front tire that is at least 1/2" shorter in height than the rear tires. (stock front tires are about 1" shorter in height than the rears).

If you're using the stock 275/40/18 rear, a 275/35/18 would work well for a front tire size.

He wants to put 18" wheels in front and 19" wheels in back.

You'll be fine with that setup 18f, 19r
Try something like a 265/35x18 & 295/30x19 setup

FYI: The C6 OEM set up is 245/40x18 & 285/35x19

Sorry to weazel in on your thread but I'm glad this post came up...I'll be running into an issue soon myself. "03 coupe MN6 currently running P-Zero's F-245/35/19 and R-285/30/20. I'll be replacing the fronts soon and I wanted to go wider. Being that the rears are 285's (wish the rears were wider but they are brand new and installed prior to me buying the car) I want to beef up the front. I think the current profile (35) is low enough to go wider but I'm not sure what width will look and work good. BTW front rims are 19x9 (I think) possibly 9.5 but I doubt it. I'm thinking 265's like GLENNM said?

Would appreciate any input...

275/30/19 is what I use on the front. They work perfectly, and are about the same height as your 245/35's.

19x9.5"

The 275's should fit a 9" wheel ok.

Thanks!
