most that do this go the opposite direction - automatic to manual tranny.
But I would think the concerns are the same.
* PCM reprogram (or a total swap of PCM's)
* there's a wiring harness that serves the powertrain that needs changed.
* Shifter and linkage. I believe there's a difference in the torque tube - having to deal with the shifter mounting.
I'm sure someone with more factual info will chime in here soon.
You can try a search. I recall reading an inquiry about A4 to M6 awhile back. The consensus was that it was cost prohibitive to go from an auto to a stick. Best off selling the A4 car and a buying a stick.
Shinobi, the auto route is probably easily done, I think Mike nailed most of the issues. I hope this means you're getting close on the TT.

Yeah its wrapping up. The LPE TT 427 car that ran 8 secs had a Turbo 400 installed. I still want 4 gear though, so I am thinking of an FLP level IV or something like that. It would just be cool to have an Auto TT Z. Thanks
That's great news. I think it would be a cool combo too. You guys are really pushing the envelope... I love it. I have business near PTK today, I might stop by just to take a sneak peak
First time posting-so I'll appologize in advance for screwing it up. Shinobi'sZ-- I'm getting ready to do an A4 to M6 swap. My '04 vert only has about 7000 miles on it if you would be interested in buying the parts. I'll have everything you'll need for the conversion. We'll be doing the swap in mid-January.

OK keep me posted I might be interested (I want to drive the car first), especially if it includes everything that I need to do it.
I will probably end up doing the th400 swap after I get the turbos done. I would like to have an a4 also, but don't think the 4le60 will live with this kind of power. a 2.75 first gear braked th400 with a good convertor and 3.15 gears should do the trick for me. I should be able to put it in and forget it.
I am considering swapping in an Automatic Tranny into my car. Anybody done this yet?
If so will you share the details?
Thanks
Give the guys at 21 Century Musclecars a call. They have done at least one that I know of. I asked them the same question and they said it was a royal PITA to go from stick to auto. Something about to do it right, the entire wiring harness has to be redone, so you're pulling the dash and the entire interior as well. I don't know all the details.

I swapped Parts with a Guy on this Forum which saved the both of us alot of Money in Parts, Parts we swapped ---The Bell Housing , Torque Tube , shifter console, He was able to reuse his wiring Harness , I on the other hand had to buy both Wiring Harnesses (I believe he had a Z51 Suspension) , I was able to reuse my Stock PCM and so did he.
It's really a pretty easy but time consuming swap. Everything bolts right in. Swapping to the M6 is a little easier than swapping in an A4 because the pins needed for the M6 are already installed at the PCM (they serve a different function for the A4). Therefore if you get an M6 tranny harness for the correct year car you can simply swap tranny harnesses and that we resolve 99% of your wiring issues. The remaining wiring is to the neutral switch which you need to bring in to the cab and run to the clutch switch. So the wiring isn't too bad when going from an A4 to an M6. However, on my M6 to A4 conversion the extra pins needed for the A4 aren’t installed at the PCM. So I made my own tranny harness that is a direct connection between the PCM and the tranny and left the existing harness alone (it has wires for the ABS unit and other functions).
Other than the wiring, everything else is a bolt-in.
Kevin,
I have an automatic tranny torque tube and an 04 A4 with 200 miles on it. I can have the A4 built with the best parts you can throw at it. I am sure we can locate, perhaps used, the correct harness(s) along with other minor parts needed as well for a plug-n-play operation. Give me a call when you can... maybe we can set something up.
