Default Head porting worth it?

I was just wondering if all the time and labor to mild port and full polish my heads will show a significant gain in hp. on a stock 98 motor with an ati p1sc. I'm considering putting a set of lq4 heads on my stock block as well. All opinions please respond. Thanks.

Forced induction will greatly benefit from flow increasing mods like ported/polished heads. However, the expense may not be worth it if you can get to your HP goals with just the supercharger.

Head work is the best place to get power IMHO. If you can get a proven port job, it'll allow air to flow into and out of your combustion chambers more easily which will show itself in the flow sheet your head porter can give you with your ported heads. Don't bother polishing the intake or exhaust ports. Polishing the ports is a waste of money, and could even cause turbulent airflow. You want turbulent air in the combustion chamber, but if it goes turbulent in the ports, you'll make less power. A good idea is coating the combustion chambers, valves (faces for both, back of exhaust only) and exhaust port, then you don't have to worry about polishing anything.
