Default Riddle me this.....

I've got a horrible engine miss, for the most part when i'm just trying to maintain speed, especially at low rpms, when slightly accelerating however, it's smooth. I've got two codes;
P0152 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1

P1153 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1

I just replaced both o2 sensors last week, however I used Bosch Sensors. The car seems to run rich all the time. I know i need to take it to Mike Norris, but he's out of the shop this week, and my drive train seems destined to keep me out of his shop. <two breaks in two monthes>

What do you folks suggest i check tomorrow? I'm going to clean the Air Filter and just make sure everything intake side is ok, in hopes to find otu why i'm rich. Is there a way to clean off a MAF?

Thank you very much guys, and i hope everybody is having a wonderfull holiday!

MAF? Plugs, since you had bad O2s the plugs might be fouled.

maybe, just a guess, with out seeing the car.

MAF=Mass Air Flow Sensor. I will check the plugs tomorrow as well. However this is pretty much the same reason i replaced the last o2's, so it's followed through two sets of 02's.

I use STP throttle body cleaner, not CARB, throttle body cleaner. I spray the inside of the air cleaner box, air bridge and the throttle plate.

Ok, thank you! i'm going to try that, clean my air intake, possibly change my plugs, and see if that fixes it, if not....it's time for a third set of o2 sensors, and some serious time at Mikes.

I developed this exact symptom on the first drive after swapping to different plugs, and after I let the car cool, I checked the wires... One was not fully seated on the plug all the way. So I made the connection and all was well... My point here is I simulated a miss inadvertantly and got THOSE codes because one plug was not firing well. My guess is you have a plug or set of plugs that need to be replaced.

I agree with the above, make sure you have the plug wires connected properly and also check the 02's to make sure they are connected well and proper sequence.

Let me ask the obvious, did you have this problem and these codes before you changed the O2 sensors?

You need to check the front O2 sensor on the right bank

I did get this problem before the new O2's and it seemingly went away for about 500 miles...The engine miss is new but the codes are not. I'm going to change the plugs and check all my intake stuff, on tuesday or late monday night.

Thank you for the responces.

as far as cleaning your mass air flow sensor denaturated alcohol in a spray bottle then shop air @ about 75 psi would be best

Last time I cleaned the MAF I used electical parts cleaner.
You might also check to make sure you don't have a burnt O2 wire.

I posted this earlier in another, similar thread.

Some guidelines to go by from the manual when checking for cutouts/misses.

General Prelim.
· Check the PCM grounds for being clean, tight and in their proper locations. Refer to PCM wiring diagrams .

· Remove the air filter element and check for dirt or for being restricted. Replace as necessary.

Fuel System
· Perform the injector balance test.

· Check for a low fuel pressure condition.

· Check for a restricted fuel filter.

· Check for a contaminated fuel condition.

· Check items which can cause an engine to run rich (long term fuel trim near -13%). For a rich condition, refer to DTC P0132 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 and DTC P0152 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1 .

· Check items that can cause an engine to run lean (long term fuel trim near 23%). For a Lean condition, refer to DTC P0131 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 and DTC P0151 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1 .

Sensor System
· Use a scan tool in order to monitor the KS system for excessive spark retard activity.

Ignition System
· Wet down the secondary ignition system with water from a spray bottle. Wetting down the secondary ignition system may help locate damaged or deteriorated components. Look/listen for arcing or misfiring as you apply water.

· Check for proper ignition voltage output with spark tester J 26792 .

· Remove the spark plugs and check for the following: o Correct heat range.
o Wet plugs
o Cracks
o Wear
o Improper gap
o Burned electrodes
o Heavy deposits

· An improper spark plug gap will cause a driveability problem. Do the spark plug gapping using a wire gauge gap tool. Determine the cause of the fouling before replacing the spark plugs if the spark plugs are gas or oil fouled. Refer to DTC P0172 Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1 and DTC P0175 Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 2 for diagnosis of the rich condition or Engine/Engine Mechanical for diagnosis of the oil fouling condition.

· Visually/Physically inspect the Secondary ignition for the following:
o Ignition wires for cross firing
o Ignition wires arcing to ground
o Ignition wires for proper routing
o Ignition coils for cracks or carbon tracking

Engine - Mechanical
· Check engine mechanical for the following:
o Check compression
o Sticking or leaking valves
o Worn camshaft lobes
o Valve timing
o Bent push rods
o Worn rocker arms
o Broken valve springs
o Excessive oil in combustion chamber-Leaking valve seals
o Low cylinder compression

· For incorrect basic engine parts. Inspect the following:
o Camshaft
o Cylinder heads
o Pistons, etc.

Exhaust System
· Check exhaust system for possible restrictions. Check for the following:
o Inspect the exhaust system for damaged or collapsed pipes.
o Inspect the exhaust manifold for a collapsed inner wall.
o Inspect the mufflers for heat distress or possible internal failure.
