My 2001 corvette C5, automatic will not start. Has no power what so ever, I went to start it and I heard a click and it went dead. Had battery checked and recharged and the vehicle is still dead. C5 has 38, 000 mile and no longer in warranty. Is there a fuse or relay that can cause this...any ideas or help will be appreciated. I try to jump start and I got gauges to work, starter clicked but did not turn. Thanks
Hmmm, your battery might be completely dead. This happened to me a while back. I put in a new battery and it worked. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a new one in anyways. I put in an Optima Yellow top. A red top will be fine, but I'm gonna be putting in a high power sound system.
My money would be on a corroded positive battery post or what ever you call them side mount things.Battery may indeed be bad, if it is do not use the place that told you it was ok ever again...
You guys were right on target. Autozone had said battery was good....tonight i took it too Advance auto parts and they indicated a bad battery. Installed new battery and it is purring like a kitten...thanks for all the advise. Its great to have you all here for support. Happy New Year and God Bless.
I've had batteries "tested" good that I KNEW were bad... especially when under warranty. Glad you found the problem. My '01 gave warning (two weeks before all hell broke loose on the DIC) it started resetting the DIC to the odo from oil temp.
As for grounds, the car has something like 13, as I recall, though for various functions.
its pretty easy to break the out of the side post batteries (dont need to be super tight) but, if youve just installed some new electronics there might be something drawing current fron your battery. its more than likely a case of an aged battery

All the best.
I've had good batteries tested to be bad. Why? 'Cause the shop wanted to sell a new battery for $150 installed. This happened to my wife. She is still using the same battery a year later.
