Default ZO6 - Changing Transmission fluid....

Do you remove the nut that's about half way up on the driver's side with the electrical connection to fill the transmission? I don't see anywhere else to fill it.

Next question, is that a 21 or 22 mm nut and should I use any kind of thread sealer when reinstalling it?

Last question, what kind of pump do you use to get the fluid in there?

TIA.

Ok. It is the plug all the way on the top to fill. I don’t remember what size. I used a (and don’t make fun of me for this) bug sprayer device. One like you use to spray on flowers and stuff. You can put the fluid in the container and the hose part has a trigger. It really does work.

Fill plug has no electrical connector - that sounds like the CAGS you're looking at.

The fill plug is on the driver's side more towards the front of the housing about 3/4 the way up. It has a standard square socket drive slot just like the drain plug. You don't need any tread sealer to reinstall, just use a torque wrench and install it to spec - I believe 20 lb-ft.

You can get several fluid pumps at the auto parts stores that will allow you to get the fluid in.

On the Z06 (MN12 tranny) the fill plug DOES have a electrical connector, its for the tranny temp sensor.

Coupes and verts (MN6 Tranny) do not have an electrical connector.

You will need 4 qts of ATF for the tranny, (I use Amsoil or mobil 1 ATF) You will only get about 3.25-3.5 qts in.

Might as well change your diff fluid while you are at it. You will need 2 qts of 75w-90 for that. If you use mobil 1 for the diff you will need the GM additive. I use amsoil for that and have been fine not using the GM additive.

Always take off the fill fill plugs first or at least break it loose. If you can't get the fill plug out you don't want to drain it first.
