Last few times I've driven the car there's been quite a bit of resistance in shifting through the gears. Most of the problem is going into first at a stop, and first to second shifts. Car has a Kirban Shorty shifter on it, installed by the previous owner. Any thoughts of how to improve or repair it? Figured while it's done for the winter I can try to do something with it. Thanks.
I noticed you live in NY. It may be the cold that is getting you. If you replace transmission fliud with synthetic you will get better cold performance (and overall better performance).

Actually I have only driven the car once in the last 2 months. This issue has been apparent prior to the onset of the cold weather. I think it's more a function of the actual shifter and it's attachment to the linkage than the transmission itself.

YOU COULD BE RIGHT
When I first bought my car I found out that my shifter was a lot "tighter" and harder to shift than other Vettes. I had a Kirbin Shifter installed which made the shifts nice and short, but it was still hard to shift. I deceided to install my stock shifter again. When I took the Kirbin out I lubricated the shifter linkage that goes through the shifter block. Make sure you lubricated it as you shift the linkage so you get everything. I put it back together and to my pleasure......it was like night and day. Maybe you have the same situation. There is also an adjustment from the shifter linkage to the transmission linkage. You can see this adjustment when you remove your console. Good Luck
