It is false. What may have mixed up is that the Z06 has cooling ducts for the rear brakes.

while I was at a car show last year I overheard the guy with a C5 next to me talking to a few people that were looking at his car (the guy was a complete butthead), they asked him about his mods and one of the things that he made a point of mentioning was that he put the Z06 calipers on his car because "they are heavier duty than the stock C5 calipers!" 
I almost busted out laughing right in front of him, and everybody else standing there!

As several people have already stated, the only difference is the color.
If you want pretty plus a performance upgrade, contact VnM about their powder coated calipers with stainless steel pistons.

Thought so. Thanks guys. I already did the Flec-Tec, or whatever it is, Black paint upgrade, so I guess I have custom Z06 calipers now. Now I can put the money into a tb bypass, or a short shifter boot.
