Okay i got this weird noise coming out as i can hear from my rear wheels... its like a clacking noise not too loud but loud enough to hear inside the car... i checked my lugs tightend them up and stuff but i cant see what else it could be? Could it be the brake disk are loose to the axel? They kinda move probally a quarter of an inch when i tried rotating them when i took the wheels in the bak off. What do u guys think?
If it's clicking as you start out in 1st or reverse and then goes away as you gain speed then I've got the same thing on my '03 passeger rear tire area. It's going to the dealer Monday but I've been told by many forum members that it is most likely the splines need greasing and or the axle nut needs adjusting. I've had one "Corvette" mechanic (non GM service center) tell me he thinks it may be a CV joint but I tend to believe the members here. I'll report back to this thread after the visit to the dealer Monday and let you know what happened.
Had the same noise in my 2001 Coupe MN6........The dealer cleaned the half shaft splines, re-greased them and then re-tourqed the axles.....Dealer said it was common with the C5's. It was done about 4 months ago and no noise since!
When you remove your wheel you'll see a big nut holding the half-shaft into the rear end, it's on the hub. You remove this, grease up the splines, then re-torque it. I had the click from the driver's side and it fixe it, now I have it from the passengers
