Default Under Drive Pulley

I am in the process of getting ready to do a cam package install. I am curious on how many of you also did the under drive pulley at the same time. I have heard that the under drive pulley is hard on the motor unless you spend over $500 for the pulley. Has anybody run into this situation?

I have an ASP on mine and no problems. I actually think the engine runs smoother with it than the stocker

I cant believe the false info some people can get regarding parts. Hurting the motor due to not having a 500 dol pulley? Thats just nuts!

I'm doing an ASP when I do my heads and cam. Good price too, 1/2 of what you think. Ditch the stocker before it comes apart, especially if you are taking it off to do the cam

Where did you get such a good price on the pulley?

Default How about Dampening?

Can anybody tell me if this ASP pulley has dampening built in? I think that is my concern on how tought it is on the motor if it does not have the dampening built in.

It has dampening material sandwiched between the hub and outer ring, just like the stocker.

ATI here. Good enough for the World Challenge cars - good enough for me. Check out their site - good info.

5000miles since H/C with the stocker. I thought the cash was better spent on Nitrous...

Running the ASP with no problems and wait to do the install with your cam.

Default Question on underdrive pulleys...

I bought an MTI crank pulley but haven't installed it yet until I get the H/C ready to go. Anyone have any experiences and/or opinions about the difference between the ASP and MTI crank pulley?

Also, I wondered since I'm planning to install the Magnuson SC eventually if I should get the pulley drilled so I don't have to tear into that again later?

I believe the MTI pulley is the same as the ASP.

That's what MTI told me. I did noticed lower volts on start up but once you get to driving it's back up to where the stock pulley had it.
