What should an ls1 do on a compression test? i'm running a 232 236 cam, if that makes any difference. I just tested cyl 1,3,5...and when i went to do 2 i dropped the adaptor...taking a break hoping it will fall out of the car... Thanks!
Well, with the help of my room mate, I tested 6 of my cylinders.....I noticed my guage was really peaky but then settled down, i'm going to post the peak/settled numbers. I don't much care for the guage i'm using so i'm not too excited about testing my last two cylinders....but i might go tinker with it a little.
1: 180/150
2:180/150
3:160/150
4:220/210
5:150/120
6:160/150
I had a compression test and leakdown done on my engine back in November just to gauge it's general health. (coming off lease TODAY)
Just for your reference here's what we got:
Not sure what the compression numbers relate to to give you a compression:ratio maybe someone could post on that. Not even sure how significant leakdown is, but from what I gather 10-12% is acceptable.
The only thing that might give me worry on yours is the variance in compression across the cylinders. If you match those results on a second test, I might think about getting someone else, or a different gauge to check them.
I think you have a small hamster inside #4 "poor lemmywinks!"
(it's a SouthPark thing, don't pay attention to me)
I did number 4 soo many times, i may test it again today, we'll see....I'm off to see Mike Norris this morning to see what's up.
Thanks for the comparison!
