Extended Crank Time on 2000 C5
New member here. I've had my 2000 C5 for 4½ yrs. and never had a problem starting it, but lately, I am experiencing extended crank time when I turn the ignition switch to start the engine. Instead of the engine starting immediately when I turn the ignition switch on, it'll crank for about 2-4 seconds before it actually starts. It doesn't happen all the time, maybe 40% of the time. And it happens whether the car is parked for a couple of days or just for an hour. I've taken it to the dealership. They hooked it up to the computer to see what's causing the problem, but no results of the cause. They said if it keeps happening or it gets worse to bring it back to them and maybe then the computer will find the source of the problem. I also checked the cables on the battery, and they look fine. This problem started happening after the dealership fixed the steering column lock recall on Nov. 2004. Coincindence? Any help on why this is happening and how to fix it is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
