Since i saw the shiny rotor thread i figured this would fit in here....
I just got red calipers.. and i was curious if anyone has figured a way to keep them looking shiny and new? Wax them now and then so they blow off nicely or??
I've been looking into the benefits of coatings for some time, and have learned what is available, and what some of the possibilities are. Okay, first of all, colors are limited. If you can deal with black, silver or white you'll be happy. It sounds like what you want is a teflon coated exterior for your calipers. Imagine calipers that would practically clean themselves if you got them real hot and then hit them with water.....just like a pan! Quickly cooling down hot metal probably isn't the best idea, and I'm sure there are limitations, but my knowledge of metallurgy is limited, and I probably even spelled the word wrong! If you do the teflon coating on the outside, I'd strongly suggest getting a heat blocking/reflecting coating on the inside of the caliper to prevent caliper spreading, and also get the pistons coated to prevent the brake fluid from boiling. Now you'd have great looks and high functionality at the same time, and isn't that what the Corvette is all about anyway?

i spray my calipers with simple green and let them soak while i wash the rest of the car. then i spray again and use a soft bristle wheel brush on them and they shine like new.
