carnut108, that's a decent example. However, TM is not an all or nothing thing. You can alter when Abuse Mode is in effect (your example) w/o having to give up TM through shifts, disabling TCS, or other heavy handed solutions.

Kurt, what is "Abuse" mode and when would it be called upon to be in effect? I plan on installing some mods in the not too distant future, and am planning on an LS1Edit being performed. Personally, I believe torque management during shifts to be a good thing. However, are you saying that torque management comes into play upon a WOT launch? And, if so, what would your recommendations be for adjustment? Thanks!
Ed
Ed, besides upshift and downshift, you can also see it during acceleration from standing start (not to be confused with TCS which feels the same) and when brakes are applied with some throttle. Both of those are going to annoy racers.
To fix this, you can change the limits that define where the abuse mode test applies. Raise the RPM threshold (stock is like 2k) to something nice and high. Lower the speed threshold (stock is like 128) to something very low, like 0. Keep in mind it's also aimed at killing power when you do silly things like drop it in gear at high RPM and you are whacking that as well. If you don't redefine these limits, your alternative is to try to redefine the magnitude of the reaction (say by redefining the requested torque reduction as 0%.) The problem with that approach is that may nullify the reaction in *all* situations, not just the ones you happen to be targeting at the moment.
BTW, In addition to the timing retard, it'll also pull fuel in extreme situations. Good luck with your mods. I know you've been thinking about them carefully.
