Question - I have a 2000 Coup with the Delco/Bose Head Unit and was wondering if a wire was already prerun from the Head Unit to the CD changer even if you/I don't have a factory changer. I'm thinking of connecting my iPod to the head unit directly so I don't lose any clarity. (Here is a link if anyone else is interested http://peripheralelectronics.com/ipod2car/index.shtml, I think monster cables is making one as well but they are for 03 or newer vehicles) I currently play music from my iPod using a FM Transmitter but it doesn't compare to the quality of a CD. If I have to remove the dash to get the head unit then so be it, but I would much rather use an existing prerun cable! Thanks for any help!
Search the forums, Audio and Electronics. I recall that someone said that some cars (Earlier model years) have the cable, but later ones do not (If no changer option from the factory)

I believe that all cars came with a jack in the harness located under the passanger dash. The stock location for the CD changer is in the center rear compartment. If you did not get the CD changer stock, then there IS NO harness from the footwell to the back compartment. So I think the answer to your question is no, you don't have to break into the dash to find the connection.
I just removed the 12 disk changer to install a sirius satellite radio in my car, I am using the GM10-AUX interface and it sounds great.
Also, since you want to hook up an IPod, you may be able to cut out some of the harness (it's 6-8 ft long to get around the rear compartment, to the center well) and mount your IPod somewhere up front. Just a thought.
