Default Dynatech Headers, hard install?

I am looking to get the Dynatech system and will be putting Borla Stingers on it, how hard is it to install this system? A brief explanation of what needs done would be helpful or a link for this informationwould be great. I can use a friends four post lift and have all the tools I could possibly need, just do not want to move the motor around or anything.

most headers the driver side installs from the bottom. It will take some patience and a little creative thinking you also might need to lift the motor. A lift install would be my choice.
Im pretty mechanically inclined and i paid to have it done probably saved me a quart of blood.

I installed SuperMAXX's on my '03 Z06 about 2 weeks ago with great success. The install was straight forward. I followed the instructions provided with the kit except I didn't remove the starter when I dropped the right side header in from the top and I didn't remove any of the valve covers. I spent a good 4 hours routing the wires for the oxygen sensors so I wouldn't have any melted connectors. I did the install in my garage on jack stands with a friend and it took us 12 hours over two days to complete. I installed the Elite Engineering Abs-of-Steel mid plate, Magnecor KV-85 plug wires, and Delco 41-985 spark plugs at the same time. I used stock LS1 exhaust gaskets instead of the supplied Dynatech gaskets and Breslin locking header bolts instead of the bolts in the kit. I've got ~200 miles on the new parts with no codes or problems.

I haven't dynoed or tuned yet, but the sound is awesome and SOTP performance is good.

I highly recommend the Breslin locking header bolts and the Elite Engineering mid plate. I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. I can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can take it to the next HPDE.

Good luck on your install!

A very straight forward install. I did mine and had no problems. Great workmanship and love the performance and sound.

on the dynatechs, both headers will easily go in from the top. just remove alt and swing the steering shaft out of the way (one bolt)

Very easy install...Go to LS1howto.com they have step by step instructions on how to install longtubes. Here are some pics from my install in my garage...........

BTW...those are not just peices of wood stacked on top of each other, they are bolted together so it's like one big piece of wood. There was about a 50/50 weight distribution between the wood and jack stands so that there was no way the car could fall on me.

Darion, I don't consider myself much of a mechanic but decided to do the install myself. As has been said, it went much better that I had expected. I have a lift and of course it helps. You always feel better when you do it yourself. Just read the directions several times before you start, put anit-seize on the O2 sensors before you re-install them. Here is a link to pictures of my completed headers.

Shouldn't be that hard. I installed KOOKS by myself on my car and while it wasn't exactly a piece of cake, it wasn't nearly as involved as some make it out to be. Did it on ramps and jackstands. Took my time taking frequent breaks and referring back to the forum for advice, and drinking plenty of beer to keep my stamina up

On a scale of 1-10 in difficulty, with 10 being next to impossible , I'd put the KOOKS at about a 6. The Dynatechs are supposed to be easier except for routing the wiring.

Hey 01:
Everything ok, no leaks? I have some small annoying leaks I can't find. Seems to come from top of motor too.
Mine is a 01 Z also.
Anything?

I firmly believe the Supermaxx are the easiest to install. Others aren't that bad either, but the Supermaxx set was just incredibly complete, and there were no points where you felt like you needed to do some custom work to make something fit. That was my #1 concern.

I did not need to remove the starter, as mentioned in the instructions.

I did have to lift the engine for the drivers header, but this chore was suprisingly painless. I felt like a wimp for worrying about lifting the engine after doing it. No big deal at all.

Lots of people get intimidated by the thought of lifting the engine. But you are only raising it a few inches and the motor mount bolts are only loosened to allow that. It is no big deal.

I did not have to lift my engine but I did have to remove the two starter bolts just to give some play to it. I did remove the passerger side valve cover but not the drivers side.
