Engine install with or without heads
I'm getting ready to put my motor back in and was wondering if anyone putting one in from the top has done it with the heads on? I took it out as a shortblock so it was easy, but to get to the rear of the head to remove chain looked like it would be tight.
Thanks, Eric

I used the drivers side rear and pass side front for mounting points for the chain and had no problems.

Dude, nice work! I'll give you a call if I ever get enough $$$ for a forged bottom end.
That has to be better than disassembling the cross member and dropping it out the bottom.

Motor install
We did mine with out heads.............I think its easier to slide in the headers with out heads.
You will love the new motor.

Before setting the engine on it's mount, I had the headers positioned so it was pretty easy even with the heads on.

Thanks Guys, I was hoping I could put the heads on first since I'm going with ARP head studs and figured it would be easier to put the heads on being on the stand. I just hope I remember where all this stuff goes

I am getting ready to install mine the same way.
I assume it is better to leave the intake off the motor?
Thanks,
Russ
