Due to still being half asleep and having a brain fart this morning, I accidentally backed into the jeep (jeep won) and put a crack in the rear of my car. It is about 3 or 4 inches long below the license plate. Can this be repaired and repainted or does the whole "bumper" have to be replaced? What a way to start off the week.
The entire bumper should be replaced. It is posible to repair your, but you're better off changing it. Getting the paint to match 100% is tough without blending the paint into the rear 1/4s.
Bumper isn't tooo terribly expensive and the cost for labor to fix it would be close to the same as just replacing it. A good shop should be able to get the paint matching well.
Do not attept to repair, it will never be right. Order an new one GMParts Direct, have it painted and reinstall. While your in there clean up all the silt and dust from the exhaust updraft. There is alot of accumulation. Figure about two hours for removal as you have not done it before. Good Luck!
Anyone happen to have the part number for the bumper? Also the clear light on the license plate mount is broke. Is this part of the bumper or a seperate part and do you have a part number for it also? Thanks.
Glad I could help you find it. It's a big friggin' download, but it's great for part #'s....even when some of them are old....and it's very educational with all the assembly drawings.
