I am thinking of purchasing a 2001 TR Coupe that has 53,000 miles.
Upon a test drive, I ran the tach up to 5500 RPM in second gear and "quick shifted" to 3rd. The clutch slipped a bit for 1,000 rpm.
The oil pressure gauge is pegged at 80 psi also. The dic shows 130 psi.
He's asking $22,000 for it. Tires are new (200 miles) OEM runflats and the car is a one owner. Ihave it for a day and it drives great, stops good also.
Well, the first thing that came to my mind was, " I wonder if he's mechanically inclined, if so doing a clutch and oil pressure sensor is no big deal". I would take the car to a Chevrolet dealer and have the guys that really know the car check it out for you. Write up a list of the things that it needs, like the clutch and oil pressure sensor and use it as negotiating power. 22k sounds about right, but only for a properly operating vette of course. Good luck man, hope it works out for you!
Run the vin and find out what has been done to the car service wise. See if it had an oil consumption issue etc. A clutch job is about a grand on up depending what clutch you decide to go with. Good luck what ever you decide.
