When i was installing the PIAA's inplace of the fogs, i had to manually raise and lower the headlights. Since then, they make a squeeking noise when i turn them off and they lower. Does anyone know how to get them to stop doing that? Its very irratating and i'd rather not have to take it to the dealer to have them fix it.
I used a Silicone based spray lubricant, with the long tube in the nozzle and a rag to prevent overspray, Shot all the hinge points and now its perfectly quiet.

I had this problem when I switched the Headlights and the Fogs. I had my wife turn them on and off until I could locate the problem (at first I thought I put it back together wrong). I noticed it was the hinge that was closest to the center of the car and it was not easy to get Lithium Grease in there so I used Silicone spray which took care of the problem.
And It Drove Me INSANE until I could find exactly where it was coming from....
Read article in one of the ussual mags about brass-toothed-headlight-opener-gears to replace cheap GM plastic ones that apparently all wear out. so, i only drive during the day ;-)
perhaps the squeaking is omen to failure...

Google on "rodney dickman C5 gears". The plastic gears just wear out or break without warning.
