Default How much more stick?

I can't make up my mind. I want to upgrade my EMT tires cause they stink, already can't handle what the car puts out. So, I can change the stock tires for better ones and improve my situation in many ways, including traction. Or, I can do tires and rims which will also provide me the option of upsizing the rubber and improving the tire. My question is, how much of a difference will I get in traction going from a 275/40-18 in the rear to a wider tire, say 295/35-18 or slightly bigger? Also, is it worth the weight increase that the larger rim and tire will bring for the extra rubber on the road?

Thanks for your input,

Darion

Look at the C5 General Sticky to figure out what the weight difference will be.

You can put 295/35 18s on your stock 18x9.5 and run just fine. I went with the GY F1 Supercars just like on th Z06, it was a helluva improvement, went the front EMTs finally wore out, I went with 245/45 17 SuperCars. Had that setup for 2.5 years and over 20k miles. I recently sent my stock 00 thin spokes out to get repainted and put a slightly used set of EMTs back on it. Man I forgot how crappy they were! Gonna be keeping that set as a spare, CCWs on now.

You can get a nice improvement going to 295/35 in something sticky on your stock rears. I wouldn't buy a new set of wheels just to go to 295s.

IFLUBYU,
No problems with the 295/35, any issues with the traction control? I would like to go this way as I like the wagon wheel from the factory, plus they are light.
More group input would be great,
Thanks for yours IFLUBYU,
Darion
