When I bought my 99 it had been lowered about 2 inches (best guess) and it felt like it was hitting the stops. I was wondering if someone could tell me what my height was stock? I am raising it back up some but I want to know what it is supposed to be, so can I can shoot somewhere in between. I did a search of the forum and found only one person posted actual dimensions(other then X fingers :-):
"2002, OEM standard wheels, OEM tires, Z51
I measured my ride height before lowering and it was set at:
27 1/2" front/driver side, 27 3/4" front/passenger side
and
28 3/4" rear/driver side, 29" rear/passenger side"
I am assuming this measurement is from the ground to the top of the wheel well. But can someone without the Z51 suspension (I don't think it would effect much but ...) tell me what height they have?

Thank you,

I have a 04 with F55. Front is 27.5 and Rear is 28.25 from ground to fender well. I also have 18 inch wheels front and back with 265/295 30 rubber.
I'm getting 27.25 front and 28.75 rear, all stock.
Cool. Thanx for the info. It seems like there is a fair amount of variation. Of course things like body style, suspension, extra weight in the car, how full the gas tank is ect. can have effect. I had 26" front and 27" rear but it was bottoming out. I'm trying 27.25 in the front and 28.5" in the rear. Now that I am almost done and have my new bolts it won't be hard to try out different settings since I have a fair idea what I am doing.

Mine is right around where you want to go and it is TOO high.....4x4 look. I am shooting for 26.25F and 27R!!

I have my ZO6 at 26.25 in front and 26.50 in the rear with a full tank of gas. I did this using stock bolts front and rear and cutting the bushings in 1/2 front and rear. The car still rides good and doesn't bottom out the shocks. Any lower in the rear and the stock shocks do bottom out.
I just lowered mine a couple of weeks ago and do not have one problem any where with scraping the car looks fantastic lowered maybe you should drive it for a while you might just want to keep it that way??
I did the work but forgot to post. I raised it back up to about the stock (depending on who's "stock" I use) height a few weekends ago. I have been driving it around and there is a huge improvement in ride comfort. For cornering I didn't notice any real change as long as the road was smooth but I am sure the sway Hotchkis bars are helping keeping me flat. I actually feel more confident in cornering on semi-rough roads. Before if I hit a pothole in while cornering the rear fell loose, probably because I had no suspension travel. I did like the look of it 2" down, but the looks arn't the driving factor for me.
I will probably lower the front back down to make sure I have got a good nose down. The rear is only about .25" lower then "stock" but I think the rear wheels fill up the wells pretty well. When I put my z06 wheels and tires on I'll probably lower the front down .5" from stock drive it some more to see if I like it there. If I am happy with it then I will get a alignment to the Z06 specs and call it good.

Getting my Z06 springs, Bilstins and LOWERING on saturday. I'm hoping that with my Hothkiss bars and 18inch wheels it should out handle a Z06 in the twisties.....I hate when those guys lose me in the turns!!

The articles I have read says that adding z06 springs then lowering it is the way to go. The extra stiffness of the Z06 springs keep it from bottoming out. I particularly liked the DIY article from vette magazine
"do not recommend lowering the car more than 0.75-1.00-in. because, in the rear, much more than that will have the car hitting the bump stops on compression. Once that happens the rear wheel rate goes way up and the car will oversteer excessively"
Later after I get some track time I may go ahead and get some of the Z06 or Z51 springs and the lower it down. But I want to try it stock first and go from there. With as easy as the height is to adjust (except for having it aligned) I can play around with it some to get it tuned in.
BTW where do people take their vettes for an alignment? How much does it usually cost?
