well i can say this to you...if one goes out of the way to build a supercharged car they have better take everything under consideration when you are investing all that money and time,,,i can tell you this from experience...i run over 12/13 pounds of boost and over 700 rwhp and i can run the vette under any extreme road corse and or weather with out any problems...i think most people willing to invest time and money will use there head and build it right...sorry

Re edit; If that is the way you want to go, Fine.
Of my 20,000+ track miles in 6 years, Seen very few corvette with turbo or SC last very long.
and twin turbo LS6 in OLA in a Henercies ( sp?) Viper, and the new ZR1s are about it. All had heat issues

Cheapest route to being able to beat a C6Z is nitrous. My '01 has a vararam, lt's, x pipe, clutch, tune, and 100 shot and made 488/533. That is more power than a C6Z for a total parts expense of under 3k

You can make anything fast...... Goes back to what Steve Doten said.... It's all in how much you are willing to spend. I don't even want to go into how much $$ I have invested in my C5Z... and it's fast, and it takes down C6Z,C7Z,Vipers,CTSV's,ZR1's... This list goes on and on...(cars that I have raced and beat)... That being said. I am strongly considering selling my C5Z and starting over with a C6Z.. They truly are an awesome platform to build upon with tons of potential. case in point.. My built 414ci stroker w all supporting mods cost me a fortune!!! I make 550/530 NA.... factor in the Nitrous system and I make 750/790.. It's an amazing car that is fun and reliable. Conversely, a buddy of mine just did H/C/I, headers, supporting bolt ons and put down 620ish to the tire and paid half, probably less than half of what I have invested. The C5Z is an awesome Corvette... The C6Z is on my list.... I gotta get one!

Just speaking drag racing the C5z's gearing is what really kills it Vs the C6z. Every video Ive watched of C5z vs C6z the C5 always gets pulled on once the shift from 1st to second happens in the C5. Normally because of the spin that happens once the clutch is let out in 2nd.

As others have said....it's all about what you like, your goals and $$$. The C5Z is a great vette and amazing value for the $$$. A solid place to start for sure. You can pick one up in the teens to low 20's and have a ton of fun. It may be more car than you can drive right now. Get one.....enjoy it and save up some $$$ for mods or move on to a C6Z when you can afford. Either way you will be enjoying a super fun vette.

True Statement....
On the freeway or the road course? You had better have the coolers, tyres and brakes to match the 550rwhp modded C6 Z. With 550rwhp I would hope you are beating up on a stock C6 Z... .
I believe the C5 Z06 has the incorrect ratios to succesfully take the C6Z 06 on at the orad course. By the time you get the power you have with a modded C6 Z06, the C5 Z06 is stuck with too many gear shifts that it doesnt need - considering any serious mods will give you all the torque you need in the C5 Z.
I have 570rwhp in an NA LS7 in my C5 Z, and I am no quicker than a cam/tuned C6 Z06 with 540rwhp. Those short gears kill our cars.

That's not true - in fact the early C6Z's is maybe only 50lb heavier. The later ones did gain some weight but I don't think it was that much.
