Z06 diff year to year?
Sorry if this is readily available somewhere - if so please point me to it...
Considering to get a used 2002 or a new Z06 (do they go for close to invoice now?).
What are the differences year to year of the Z06.
2002 and up all have HUD, right?
Do they have telescoping steering column if the memory package is added?
And I seem to recall that the Z06 suspension (shocks and sway bars) got tuned almost every year, right?
If so, was if for the better for AutoX?
Also, with the Black/Red interior option, the floor mats and trunk mat are still black, right?
Thanks,
-kg

02 on up the HUD is standard. Black mats come with the red interior.

Re: Z06 diff year to year? (KGjevre)
Changes for 2002 from 2001
This is most of it. Not too much . . .
-Diamond mentioned HUD standard beginning 2002.
-Unfortunately for us tall ones, a head impact was added in the ceiling of 2003 and 2004
-Rear shocks were re-valved for "a more controlled ride" . . . Whatever that means
-Rear leaf spring stiffened
-Front stabilizer larger
-Different factory camber alignment settings
-Wheels are the same . . . but different alloy.
-Break pads are different for "improved fade resistance"
-Aluminum front stabilizer bar links
-New higher lift cam shaft
-Hollow stem valves
-Higher tension valve springs
-Different lower restriction mass airflow sensor
-Different lower restriction airbox
-Different fuel and spark programming curves
-Different piston rings to fix oil consumption problem
-Different pistons coated with a special polymer to fix cold knock problem
-Different exhaust system with no "pup" cat on the down tubes. Less restriction and 5.5lbs weight loss.
-Different clutch and pressure plate jumps clamp load 7 percent to 2475 lbs
You'll find most of the details here: http://www.c5registry.com/2k2z06/

Thanks for the answers everyone.

Since I am 6'3" and add an inch or so with a helmet for AutoX, there is actually an incentive for me to look for a used low-mileage 2002 - we will see.

In terms of headroom, I don't think that your overall body height really matters. All that really matters is the length of your torso. There are plenty of big guys who just have long legs who fit into 03s and 04s. You should check to see whether you fit in an 04 before you dismiss it. Even now, you can get tremendous deals on a brand new 04. Just yesterday, I just saw a beautiful MY 04 going for about $7K under MSRP. Those deals are probably only going to get better in the next couple months. Good luck.

Thanks, I will keep my eye open and check around and not dismiss the 2004 yet.
A dealer's sales person that called me as a response to an inquiry I did through Edmunds offered $2000 or $3000 off MSRP, but "he was only allowed to do this internet discount on 2 more cars", but may be able to do better when I come in... they only had silver and red Z06 and I think I want yellow though...which I located at another dealer...may stop by there on the weekend...

Oh, I just noticed that you're in OC right near me. Don't look in LA or OC. You won't find the deals there (not yet anyway) even at some of the big movers like Cormier in Long Beach. Two months ago, I got invoice on my 04 at Bob Stall Chevrolet in San Diego. They're pretty good people down there. If you're willing to go out of state, try the Ross Downing web page. That's where I just saw the the MY at about $7K off MSRP. There's a lot of great info on this board about buying out of state and saving a bundle. I was five minutes from doing just that when the gal at Bob Stall e-mailed me with her deal. Good luck.

Mikeo, interesting, invoice on a silver 2004 Z06 from Bob Stall Chevrolet in San Diego.
Thanks, very good info.
I am not in a rush, so I could even wait until January and see what happens when the C6 is introduced, but not sure if this will affect supply of 2004 Z06.

If you have the time, that's great. The prices are probably only gonna get better. I wouldn't worry about supply. With a little effort, you could've tracked down an 03 up to a few weeks ago. In January, I'll bet there'll be plenty of 04's left. If you decide to call Bob Stall, ask for Annette Wood. She's a straight shooter and she'll remember me. I had never dealt with her before and I was so sure that she was gonna try to screw me, I busted her butt that whole day! Happy shopping!
