Default Buying advice needed

I will be actively looking for a new C6 sometime around May or June (funds available then) and would like some opinions as to whether I should buy a 2005 at that time, or wait a couple of months for the 06's.

Is it normal policy for the factory to do updates or fixes on the small bugs (hopefully not large ones !) that have popped up during the first year, or do they keep building them the same way until the new model year begins ?

How about dealer flexibilty on prices...better now or take a chance on the new model year and any possible price increases ?

And finally, a practical question ...if I buy an out-of-state vehicle, how exactly do I drive it back home...is there such a thing as tranporter tags for the car, or how do I keep it legal to drive it home ?

Thanks for your help, and I look forward to MY mag red C6 soon !

The 2006 model year production will probably not start until late September or October. If you want the car for this spring and summer, buy a 2005.

Upgrades are part of the production process and are an ongoing thing. The only current issue is the crank pulley, and that's already been addressed in newer production vehicles. All in all, the 2005 has been remarkably free of first year issues.

Dealers are more likely to discount the 2005 than the newly introduced 2006, but this depends on the dealer more than anything else.

Temporary plates are issued at the time of purchase. They're usually good for 10 to 30 days, depending on the state. It doesn't matter where you buy the car since you'll have to register it in your home state anyway.

Hope this helps.

With the delay on MY '06 I decided or, should I say that GM decided for me, to wait for an '06. I currently own a C5 so at least I won't be Vette-less for the Summer. IMHO, it makes no sense to buy any car so near the end of the MY. That is, unless you can get 8-10K off MSRP. Because that will be your immediate first year depreciation.

I thought of this also but, I heard they are not accepting orders on 06 verts, and I would have to wait until the spring of 06 to get it! So I would be in the same boat only a year later!
I just don't know what to do

Well I'm pretty well convinced that I should see what kind of a deal I can get first on an 05, and if not particularly good, then just wait and order an 06, tho it'll be difficult.
I thank you all for your advice .

The factory normally will make running changes to problems as they identify them. You can bet there will alway be increases. There has alread been one on the 05 coupe.

I looked at the NCM Web site and saw they're raffling off at 2005 DSOM Vert - Cashmere - Beige Top - Polished Wheels (End of April 2005). That's my car (like the car I ordered) so I better have mine then, I doubt if the Museum has any pull over me?
