What is GMS?

If he is a GM Employee, or a retired GM Employee, the discount plan is open to immediate family, spouses, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, but....
Your Dad must process your certificate through the system.
He can do it on the employee WEB site, if he has all of his employee info handy.I hope you were a good child and didn't give him a lot a problems when you were growing up.
It is up to the dealer if they accept the certificate. Very few dealers are accepting GMS on verts. Some are on coupes. You might have to visit a few before you find a dealer which will take it. Depends where you live.
You might check with some of the forum dealers here. Not sure if any are taking at this point.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Persons eligible for GMS pricing; (please note, this is cut from the GM employee website):
Who is eligible for the GMS Employee Discount?
Eligible participants in the GM New Vehicle Purchase Program can share their discounts with any of these eligible family members:
Spouse
Children
Stepchildren
Grandchildren
Stepgrandchildren
Parents
Stepparents
Siblings (including full, half and step)
Mother-/father-in-law
Sons-/daughters-in-law
Brothers-/sisters-in-law
GMS pricing is approx. 2 percent under dealer cost. I believe Ken Fichtner started a thread on this showing the discounts.
GM does offer a GM supplier discount, but because it says GM Supplier, does not mean that GMS is GM Supplier. The "S" in GMS stands for "Stock." A few years ago, there were two GM employee programs. One was GMS, which allowed a GM employee to purchase a vehicle off the dealer's lot; the other was called GMO, where the "O" meant "order." For GMO, the GM employee would order the vehicle; not purchase off the lot.
There is also a program called GM in the Driveway. This program allows any GM employee to obtain a certificate for a friend or relative (a relative not eligible for GMS employee pricing) that allows that person to purchase a vehicle at the same price as a GM Supplier discount.
Dealers can offer discounts to their employees; however, a dealership employee is NOT a GM employee since dealerships are owned by separate individuals or entities.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually it is not too hard to find out your sequence number once your car hits code 3100, then you can find out what cars are currently on the line, figure about 150/day (although that can change due to delay problems) and you'll know when to go and see you car. I did it on my first Vette and followed it all the way through. My dad retired from GM so he pulled a few strings to get me an escort for the entire process (about 10 hours I think). It was WAY cool. Good luck and if you don't mind email me the name of the dealer who gave you GMS. vettinman@yahoo.com

Guess having a father who sold GM cars won't cut the mustard for the GMS program. Oh well, never knew about this in the past, so, nothing lost!
thanks for the info.

When I bought my truck, it was $400 below invoice, that's much better than 4% over invoice.
