What genius decided to make the time zone setting on the C6 nav system a manual setting? Doesn't the damn nav system know which time zone you're in?!?!?!?!!?!?
Jesus H. Tapdancin' Christ, that was stupid!
The nav in my Acura TL used to change the clock precisely on the time zone border - I'd be driving across the bridge that spans the Colorado River, and BOOM! the clock would change right in the middle of the span. The only problem was, the people who designed the system for Honda forgot that Arizona doesn't observe Daylight Savings Time, so for 6 months out of the year the clock change was wrong.
does seem like an oversight doesn't it? especially considering you can set the clock by pushing the "gps time" button or whatever.
on the other hand, it also seems like an oversight that could be corrected by a firmware update/upgrade. though.. i won't be holding my breath for that.
I did not realize that the time zones time information would not be updated by the "GPS Time" setting. I am surprised that the time would not automatically update based upon the information received from space and compared to ground location. Software glitch??
What then does the GPS time setting actually do?
Jim
Yes, that is a minor pet peeve of mine, too. My cellphone adjusts its time based on which timezone I'm in, so why doesn't my car do it? I have onStar, so my car has its own cellphone, yet it doesn't automatically adjust for the timezone.
But to give credit to where it is due, it is nice that it does automatically receive the time and set the clock.
You must be far more advanced at operating it than I am. I still can't get mine to stop displaying <insert type> restaurant icons every time I give it a command like "detour" or "home". By the time I'm done cursing at it, I'm already at my destination and I can't see any roads on the map because it is covered with icons I don't want.
