I've been visiting this forum over the last few months. I can't decide if I should buy a c6 or an M3. I drive a 330i now but I'm bored of the whole sports sedan thing. I had a Z28 when I was a teenager and miss that old muscle car feel.
My only real worry is reliability. I've read about problems c6 owners have already had to face, not only in this forum but others. I know it's all covered under warranty but still. I don't enjoy spending a lot of my free time at the dealer or worse, not having a car for extended periods while it's being fixed. My friends/family keep telling me I'm out of my mind to even consider an American made sports car, because they are all junk but whatever. I'm going to get what I want.
I test drove an M3 yesterday. It was quick, handled well but still lacked that real sports car look and feel. The engine sounded weak too. It just didn't have that intimidating rumble I used to hear from my old z. I want to test drive the c6 but nobody has one in stock. So anyway, I was just wondering if there were any c6 owners that have driven more than 1000 miles with no problems.
PR C6 built 24 Aug picked up 17 Sep 6,500 miles so far and absolutely no problems this is the 50th car I have owned over the years and by far the best...also have a 63 SW coupe but that's another story...

Keep in mind that mostly what gets heard are the problems. You have to balance that with the ones who have no problems. Plus I hear few complaints that GM is not taking care of the problems that some are facing. All in all it sounds like a good bet.
BMW's have their share of problems too, but I bet their service is a lot better than you'll find at most Chevy dealerships.
I'm still waiting for my C6 to be built, but I'm coming out of a Lexus which has not had a single problem in 3 years. I've got the same concerns you do, but I've owned BMW's before and most recently had a 2000 X5 that had more problems than your average 1970's era FIAT.
If you look through the online forums like this one, you'll see a refreshing lack irate owners flipping out over problems.
I'm putting my money on it and feel good about it.
I have over 1200 miles and it has been my everyday driver for 5 weeks... No problems.
I had a battery die, but I was on vacation for 23 days and I don't think I parked it correctly (I have a 6 speed and it wasn't all the way in reverse)...
So far it has been better than my C5 was (2000 Coupe)...
2150 miles, no issues either (had it 1 month). Drive it in LA traffice, and after it was broken in took a road trip from LA to San Jose.
I've also never had an issue with my 2000 Z28, or my 2002 SS camaro's either (Chevy's been doing a great job on their quality control I think over the past 5 years or so).
Where are you located? If you do not live near one of the supporting dealers and are in california email me and I can recommend a place that has a dedicated test drive C6 (it's auto unfortunately). You could try it out and then purchase it from one of the supporting dealers .
