How many people went from an automatic car to a new C6 Manual transmission and how difficult was it to become used to rowing gears again for you? Do you believe it was like "riding a bike" or more challenging? Just curious.
Unless you are at an age where Buicks and Mercurys start to really appeal to you---you will have no problems. In fact driving a manual has never been easier---not like the 60's -clutch action is light and smooth.
I've been on the automatic for 5 years (mostly due to commute thru the So Cal traffic). Two weeks ago I drove a friend's manual C6. Had a nice long 30 minute drive and never came close to stalling it. In fact, it's much easier than the Camaro and Mustang pony cars I've owned.
Now watch me stall the car as I pull away from the Museum next Friday.

I'm picking up my Victory Red manual at the Museum next Friday too! Hope to meet some Forum members. I was just telling a friend today that I'll probably stall it a half dozen times trying to pull away from the Museum. I haven't had much stick time in quite a while.
C5 was auto C6 is MN6 and I love it took about three days to get back in the swing, I haven't driven ine in about 35 years but no problem and it's my dailey driver.

What age is that? I've lived over half a century and the only Mercury that ever appealed to me was a chopped hot rod from the early 50s (it was a manual tranny). I have always had at least one car with a manual transmission (including Belle, my C6). It is the only way to enjoy driving
Haven't driven a manual in 20 years. Forgot how much I really love it. Now when I get in an automatic, my left foot presses the floor for the clutch. The C6 manual is nothing but smoothe.
It's easier than riding a bike. I haven't fallen off my vette yet. I just get in and hang on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
