Default Why do so many

Why do so many always want to compare C6 coupes and convertibles to the C5 Z06. The coupes and convertibles weren't meant to be the replacement for the C5 Z06. That will be coming this fall. That is what the C5 Z06 should be compared to. Shouldn't the C6 coupes and convertibles be compared to the C5 coupes and convertibles since that is what they were meant to replace.

Because you can. C5 Z06 was, and is, a really hot street legal race car. C6 coupes & Verts are close to performance for those who always wanted the open air experience.

And FWIW, you car gives me the Vert-fever goose bumps.

I think a lot of it is that the C6 coupe/vert has 400 hp, and the 02-04 Z06 has 405 hp. That is so close; which one is better?

I guess that comparing the C5's coupe/vert's 345 hp (early years) and 350 hp to the C6's 400 hp, people clearly expect the C6 to be better.

On one hand I agree with you, and I think the reason many of them are doing it is to justify that they still own the king of the hill. Many Z06 owners wear them as a badge to show that they are serious performance "guys" and they want to be sure that everyone knows that they are still a cut above even a C6 coupe or vert.

On the other hand, the fact that they are just a little defensive shows that the C6 really is a serious performance threat to a C5 Z06. Let's just accept it as a compliment.

HAving owned a Z06 before I have experienced the differences first hand... If I had to choose between the 2 I would choose a C6 everyday...over a C5 Z06.. in some ways its better... the 5 HP difference meant nothing to me... I will agree with Jim its just a little defensiveness... I guess I appreciate both cars for what they are...and I also understand they will always come out with something better each generation

Interesting. I also find it a complement that people compare the C6 to the C5 Z06.

It's the best comparison

Since I just sold my Z06 to get my C6, I almost HAVE to agree. There are still some things the Z06 does a smidge better, but not enough to make me keep the Z06. Still, I did opt for the Z51 to keep the comparison as close as possible. I can understand why people compare them, though. The price, horsepower, and torque are all similar. The new Z06 will be quite a bit more expensive, I'd guess.
