While this is my 3rd vet I have bought, this is my first new one. My last one I bought used had a Corsa exhaust and I miss the throaty undertone that came with it.
So, I decided to do my first mod. I am going with a new exhaust. My question is this. How much can I do without threatening my factory warranty? I don't want to do anything that will void it, but I must be allowed to do some work, no?
Just had my Chev dealer install the Corsa Sports on my C6 man the are sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet alot more throaty that on my C5. I don't know about other mods because I like mine just the way it is.
Only the Touring is an approved GM part. NOT the sport. Called GM myself.
Are you absolutely sure? I don't mean to question your comment, but the Touring and Sports share the very same mufflers and rear pipes. The Touring version only adds the H-pipe forward of the Sport components.
I would think that if only one version were to be outside of the GM approval, it would be the Touring version.
that is not correct. the sport system is considered off road to gm. it is the loudest system corsa has. the diffrence is the sound level not whether or not you get the x pipe.
Actually, the difference between the Corsa Sports and Touring is that only the Corsa Touring system falls below the 95dB level and therefore is 50-state legal which is why GM stands behind the Touring system.
According to Corsa, the Sports system comes in at 98dB and is not permitted in three states as it exceeds their noise standards.
That said, I just had a B&B X-pipe and Corsa Sports (4 tips) installed on my ride this morning. God, it brings back memories of my '69 350-350 vert with side pipes when doing a hard run. At cruise (80+) in 6th gear the sound is no more intrusive than the stock system but the seat of the pants feel is now coupled with a more throaty sound.
Has anyone combined the Corsa sports with long tube headers? I'm wondering if there is a simple "swap" available - where no cutting or welding is necessary. The gains seem nice, around 25 rwhp, and should have no affect on most warranty issues (or so I'm told)...
What tipped you to the Tours rather than the Sport?
While its not the same, I checked both out for my C5. The sports sounded a tad louder but more importantly, were more "exotic" sounding. Not a deep grumble but rather a euro sound. I understand its the same for the C6.
It will only affect the warranty if the warranty work is DIRECTLY related to the modded part.
For example, if you change the radio and then blow out the factory speakers, they could claim that was a result or your changeing out the factory radio. Fair enough.
However if you change the radio and have radiator problems, the two are not related and would be covered under warranty.
