Default Fob Question

I was told by a dealer that if you have the fob anywhere near the C-6 like maybe up to 3 ft., the vette thinks it is going to be activated. It is alive so to speak and should you just leave the fob in the area of the car it could result in draining the battery. I know of a couple dead battery instances. one of which the fob was in the car overnight on the seat. Any feedback on this?

no. the car doesn't "look" for the fob, the way i understand it, till you walk up and touch one of the door/hatch releases. so, the car is effectively "asleep" until then. it's not actively "scanning" for a fob 24/7.

It sends a request to scan when a door or hatch pad is touched.
