Top off buffeting
***************************
When I get hot I take my top off!

First let me say I love Southern California, second I love my new C6.
I am originally from the east coast of Canada and I have had many sports cars (for 6 months of the year anyway!). Moving to So Cal means I can drive my cars 365 days of the year without worry of bad weather (worth the move alone?).
Now for those of you familiar with the San Diego area you will know of a road that runs between Salton Sea and Borrego Springs, commonly know as S22. This road is about 50 miles long, straight as an arrow, flat as a pancake and runs right across the Anza Borrego Desert!
Needless to say this was the perfect place to play with my new Christmas present, a black C6 coupe. With my wife working I packed up my buggy and headed east, for the out bound trip I took the long south-eastern route and cut north to meet the sea. When I arrived at S22 I pointed my car west, pulled to the side of the road and took the top off (temperature was in the low 80s with wind coming from the west).
With a mix of Beach Boys and AeroSmith playing on the CD I managed to bring the needle up to 133 before having to stop and put the roof back on, the wind buffeting was overwhelming.
With the roof on and the HUD showing 168 the car was not even breathing hard, but I couldn’t help but think how I would explain the CHP what I was doing if I happened to encounter one hiding over the next dune or perhaps a more difficult explanation would be to my wife as to why I would be spending Christmas in jail.
Yes, I love California and Yes I love my new C6
