Default C6 Engine Cooling System Question

I assume that the C6 engine's cooling system has a 195 degree thermostat. I'm pretty sure a change to a 180 degree thermostat would require a computer reprogram, but does anyone know for sure or has anyone made a change? Because of Texas' heat and lack of winter I've changed thermostats to cooler ones in older vehicles but never one with more modern engine monitoring systems. Thanks.

Yes, 195*. Same stat and water pump is used on the 2004 C5s. You can get a 160 but I have not seen a 180 yet. You can cut out two coils (spring) and the stat will be fully closed at 180. Operating range 185+ and you must set fan lower.
