Default 2006 C6 delivery date

I'm sure this has been addressed before but I was wondering if anyone knew when a person could expect delivery of a new 2006 C6 if you could pre-order it now. Just thinking..

I think I saw somewhere that the first build was 9-9-2005. If that is true I would expect cars to start showing up sometime in late September.

More like late October.

Just get an 05 since there won't be a whole lot of difference between a late 05 and an early 06. Unless you want one of the new 06 colors, which could be inmportant since some of the 05 colors seem to be disappearing early.

According to this post there will be a SIX SPEED AUTO, as well as the new inch smaller steering wheel, along with the colors.....

The 2006 build starts September 9 (Z06 is July 25). Expect shipping to start the following week so delivery to dealers should start around September 15 (Z06 delivery in August). Of course, you have to be ordering from a dealer who will have allocation and be scheduled to have cars built at the start of production. Some small dealers don't get their first allocation for weeks/months after the start.

If you'r going 6 spd, go for it now. If the only difference is the steering wheel, enjoy the 4 spoke all summer, then if you still feel you need to, get an aftermarket next year. (it probably wont cost more than the price increase anyway.)

Seems to me I read that they are actually going to switch to the newer style steering wheel in May of this year. Can't confirm that but do remember seeing that on this forum.

Can anyone speculate on the cost of replacing the steering wheel with the new one? Of course, one would want all of the original functionality in terms of audio controls, etc. If I get an '05, I would really like a 3-spoke.

The only control on the wheel is the horn. No audio.

Most of this regarding the options and changes is purely speculative. There is rumor of an XM satellite antenna in an invisible location, and other possible changes. No one knows for sure. It is correct that buildout will begin in early Sept and I doubt that any dealers will be able to send in orders before July.
I am waiting as well.

That is not a rumor. The XM antenna is located in both of the outside mirrors.

If I’m not mistaken you are the first to break this news that it is fact and it is welcome news at that.

Can you direct us to the authorized place this is announced?

I, for one, will delay my 05 order if this is the true skinny

I thought I read that there is a 6 speed Auto instead of 4 for next year. That is why I'm waiting.

I don't know if this would be wise. Consider the fact that it would be a new transmission and you would be one of the testers. The potential for first year problems with a complex component like this are huge. As well we can probably expect a price increase on the C6 and its options. Get the car now and enjoy it now. Who knows what allocation problems there will be for certain options in 2006. Life is too short to continually wait around until the next supposed improvement. There will likely be some cool things available on the 2007 model. Do you want to wait for that too ?

So sad you are putting off a whole season for such a minor so called flaw....Absolutley no one has even asked about my "WART" of the hundreds of people that have given it a close inspection....Only people it seems to bother are a few Vette people that never have anything good to say about any fasite of the C6......IMHO
