Default Clutch Problem Continues

I posted last week that my clutch under heavy excelleration when going into 3td gear would stay to the floor. When you let up on the RPM's it would pop back up. Took it to the dealer on Tues 3/1/2005 and they found the clutch plate and the slave unit are defective. I was told today it may be 3-4 weeks for parts. So my car sits at the dealer in pieces until then. Aint that a kick in the teeth. Any suggestions or high level contacts at GM would be helpful. I did call GM directly and let them know. They said they would call on 3/14 yes 3/14 to see how things are going. No parts nationwide. They have to come from the vendor. GM has been waiting since Jan. for parts. No luck.

The supplier for the clutch is LUK in Wooster, Ohio. If you do some research on the web, you might be able to find a way to contact them.

I feel for you brother. Just as our weather in IL is starting to come around. Of course this couldn't have happened in late December right?
Hang in there!

Call the Chevrolet 800 number directly. They will intervene on your behalf with the dealer to make sure that the dealer knows all the pertinent information on whatever the problem is.

Some dealers are extremely lame and that is why people end up waiting for things like this.

You need to get pressure applied from the top in these cases, You can find all the parts and materials to do the job and it won't help.

I posted the 800 number in one of the Crank pulley threads in Dec. Chevrolet was very accommodating, at least in my case, they made making the call worthwhile $$.

I can't say for sure, but I personally find this hard to believe. Unless GM is replacing clutches like crazy out in the field, I can't believe GMSPO does not have these clutch parts in stock.
One way to find out if they are in stock is call Fichtner Chevrolet, and see if their parts department can confirm this. If they are in stock, confront your dealer, if not, call GM and complain, I sure would.
As a general rule, GM has a supply of any parts that are serviceable on hand, before the vehicle is launched. Again, if they are having a problem, and they are being replaced, supply can run down.

I couldn't be happier with my first year model car. I wouldn't trade the 7,000+ miles I've put on my '05 Vette since Oct. 2004 for anything.

I would buy another even if I had to go through the Crank Pulley problem again, but then I have a good dealer who knows how to keep a customer pleased. They gave me an SSR to drive around when they fixed the pulley on the C6 and paid so much attention to me and my C6's problem I was almost embarrassed.

I believe they have to buy it back (lemon law) if it is in the shop for more than (30??) days. Tell them you plan to invoke that rule. That oughta speed them up !

Not sure why a slave would take so long. I had a Spec 3 installed in my Z...lasted a week...took it to the tuners & they replaced it on the spot. Amazes me how an independent can look after you & a corp with millions of parts can't.

I calleed the 800 number and was very vocal to them. They hopefully will help. I will call Fitchner for the hell of it. Also, I will try to find the parts myself and pay for them if I have too. The dealer actually has been very cool and they are going to try to get authorization to take it off a car in stock. I told them to get ready because on day thirty they will get a call from the lemon law lawyers. I might have to go on the Z06 list.

You're gunna give up on 365 days of funs and rushes, just 'cause you have to bring in the car to the shop for a few days?
Think again what you'd really do!

I'm not buyin it! I'm sure all those 63 Split window coupe owners wished they had waited for the 64. So there are some glitches first year. Keep driving he C5. It makes the line shorter for the rest of us.

Hopefully they'll have it fixed soon. I have never quite got my hands around this whole availablity for parts issue. Understandably, there will be 1st year, 2nd, 3rd, and so on, mechnical issues...but they really need to be able to step-up and divert the parts out of their supplier pipeline, etc. Whatever it takes, parts need to be available to keep these newly purchased cars on the road. Hang in there!

I think this is right. If your car sets at the dealership for more than four weeks and is not fixed, and less than 18,000 miles, and less than 12 months old. They can be forsed to buy it back. Good luck
