The wife and I were driving back from Connecticut on Interstate 80. We saw a car carrier that was all Corvettes. One was a convertible with a Cashmere top. Maybe someone pulled some strings, but we saw one.

I don't believe any strings were pulled I saw one in a cradle at the Assembly Plant on Friday. I believe they are still testing, trying to work out the bugs for 2006 and a few are being manufactured. They are probably going to dealers or other places as test mules or something like that?

When we were at BG on Wednesday 3/09/05, we saw a C6 at the Wendy's right outside if the plant with a Grey top. I even have a picture of it.
It had dealer plates on it. Check out the picture.

What color was the car? In what direction do you think it was headed?

I believe these are going out to dealers for testing.
Kevin told me you were in on Wednesday & Thursday, saw mine on Friday and drove it off the line. Sorry I missed you, it certainly is an exiting and emotional time watching your car built and driving it off the line, first human to drive it!

I would assume they are pilot cars for the new top frame. The NCM I noticed is rafflling off an Orange Tan / Tan vert in April I would assume one of these test cars from GM.

I bought a raffle ticket for the DSOM/Cashmere vert from the Museum. I'm not sure when they will build the car, but it won't be a 'test' car. I contacted a couple of people there to ask if they were changing the color due to the Beige top constraint. He said if the top color constraints were lifted when the car is to be built, then it will have the beige top. If not, it will be built with the black top, and still have the Cashmere interior (thankfully).
Test cars do not to to Dealers. There is a mag red convertible running around between BG and Spring Hill manufacturing that has the Cashmere top. It is being driven by GM managers at both the BG plant and at the Spring Hill plant. I drove it two weeks ago, when it was in TN. (Also a plain Jane C6 running around with a LS7 engine stuffed inside, but does not have the ZO6 suspension, tires or other ZO6 attributes, but it screams.)
There is a possibility that the ones seen on trucks could be destined for Milford Proving Grounds, a supplier for testing, or they are manufacturing them for sale.
